The oriental sweetlip is one of the most common types of fish found around the islands of the Maldives.  It is a fish that undergoes a drastic change in colour from childhood to adulthood and is therefore appealing to scuba divers and marine life enthusiasts.

Whale sharks are one of the principal attractions for scuba divers visiting the Maldives.  The largest fish in the world, a whale shark can grow up to 40 feet and are very calm creatures, making them great snorkelling companions.

Toward the end of the video, we start seeing some of the larger underwater creatures that are commonly seen in the Maldives, including the napoleon wrasse, grey reef shark, some cute pufferfish, a manta ray, and a huge sea turtle.

Atabu Thila dive site has very strong currents, an attribute that attracts sharks to this spot. In this video, you can see a big grey reef shark swimming around the divers and then going on his merry little way.

You can tell the currents are very strong just by looking at the fish that are swimming but not moving forward.
